Pack 'n Stack
Overview
Game Statement
Pack 'n Stack is a first-person arcade warehouse simulator that was created for a 48 hour game jam in 2022 with the theme of 'Lift'. Pack 'n Stack was a group project created by me and 2 others.
In Pack 'n Stack the player is tasked with depositing packages into the correct drop-off points. There are packages that are in good condition that need to be dropped-off at the delivery truck, then there are empty boxes marked with a recycling stamp that need to be thrown in a recycling skip out the back.
Legal and Ethical Considerations
Pack 'n Stack would fall under the PEGI 3 label, as it does not contain anything that requires rating or warrants a content warning. Pack 'n Stack also avoids representation of people groups and sensitive topics to ensure there is no controversy against the game.

Footage
This is a gameplay video of me depositing some storage boxes into their correct and incorrect drop-off points to see how it would affect the score in the top left hand corner of the screen.
Gameplay
Mechanics
The player has basic movement controls such as a walk, sprint and jump.
They can walk close to packages that will highlight yellow when looked at, this means the player can pick the package up with left click. The player can then carry and drop the package wherever they want.
There is a counter that keeps track of your score on delivering the packages to their corresponding drop-off points.
Finally, there is a timer that starts at 5 minutes and counts down.
Objective
The objective of Pack 'n Stack is to simply have the highest score before the 5 minute timer runs out. There is a max score if you deposit every box into the correct area within the given time.
Level Design
The Warehouse

Due to this project being created for a game jam with a 48 hour deadline I decided to not create concepts and designs for the layout of the interior.
I started within Unity to create a warehouse that was easy to navigate and doesn't block the player's view of important areas.
The layout shares a resemblance to real warehouses with rows of shelves that would be marked as isle A1 for example.
